Your Own Calendar (Pro+)

Your own calendar is an independent calendar hosted by LockMyCal on servers in the EU instead of Google or Microsoft. It is connected to your bookings automatically, and you can use it in Outlook, Apple Calendar, Android, Thunderbird and right in the calendar on your LockMyCal dashboard. You don't need any other calendar account.

Pro+ in the cloud

Your own calendar is an add-on to a paid Pro subscription (Pro+) for €2 / CZK 50 / $3 per month, or €20 / CZK 500 / $30 per year with annual billing. It can't be added during the Pro trial or on the Free plan. It is available in the LockMyCal cloud only.

1. Adding the add-on

You add the add-on in the Subscription section:

  • When subscribing to Pro: switch on + Hosted calendar next to the Pro plan and continue to payment.
  • To an existing subscription: in the Hosted calendar add-on card, click Add the hosted calendar and confirm with Add and pay. The add-on is billed together with your Pro subscription; the prorated amount for the rest of the current period is charged right away.

2. Creating the calendar

  1. Go to Integrations → Calendars. Below your connected calendars you'll find the Your own calendar block.
  2. Click Create my calendar.
  3. The Server address, Username and Password are shown. Copy each one with the Copy button.
  4. Save the password right away (for example in a password manager) – it is shown only this once. Then click I've saved it.

At the same time, the calendar is connected to LockMyCal as an ordinary connected calendar tagged Local. Bookings are written to it, and its events block free slots just like with other calendars. On the web, you use it right in the Calendar on your dashboard (the Open in the calendar link).

Note

The server address and username stay visible in the Your own calendar block later on. The password doesn't – if you lose it, generate a new one (see below).

3. Connecting other apps

In every app you enter the same three details: the server address, username and password from the Your own calendar block. The calendar appears in the apps under the name LockMyCal.

Apple Calendar (iPhone, iPad)

  1. Open Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add CalDAV Account.
  2. Paste the server address into Server, fill in User Name and Password, and tap Next.
  3. Keep Calendars switched on and tap Save.

Apple Calendar (Mac)

  1. In the Calendar app, open Calendar → Accounts… (or Settings → Accounts) and click +.
  2. Choose Other CalDAV Account…, set the account type to Manual, and fill in the username, password and server address.
  3. Click Sign In.

Android

Android doesn't support CalDAV on its own; use the DAVx⁵ app (Google Play or F-Droid):

  1. In DAVx⁵, tap + and choose Login with URL and user name.
  2. Fill in the server address, username and password and tap Login.
  3. On the CalDAV tab, tick the LockMyCal calendar. Its events then show up in your phone's calendar app (e.g. Google Calendar).

Thunderbird

  1. In Thunderbird's calendar, choose New Calendar → On the Network.
  2. Fill in Username, paste the server address into Location, and click Find Calendars.
  3. After entering the password, select the LockMyCal calendar and click Subscribe.

Microsoft Outlook

Warning

Outlook can't do CalDAV on its own. The new Outlook for Windows, Outlook for Mac and Outlook on the web can't connect your own calendar at all.

In classic Outlook for Windows (desktop), you connect it with the free, open-source CalDav Synchronizer add-in:

  1. Install CalDav Synchronizer and restart Outlook. A CalDav Synchronizer tab appears in the ribbon.
  2. In Outlook, create an empty calendar folder (e.g. LockMyCal) to sync the events into.
  3. On the CalDav Synchronizer tab, click Synchronization Profiles, add a new profile (+) and choose Generic CalDAV/CardDAV.
  4. Fill in DAV URL (the server address), Username and Password, and pick the folder from step 2 as the Outlook folder.
  5. Click Test or discover settings, select the LockMyCal calendar and save the profile with OK.

4. A new password

If you lose the password or want to disconnect every app, click Generate new password in the Your own calendar block and confirm. The current password stops working right away and every connected app will need the new one. LockMyCal switches over to the new password by itself.

The same button reconnects the calendar to your bookings if it has been disconnected in the meantime.

5. Removing the add-on or the end of Pro

  • You remove the add-on in the Subscription section with Remove add-on. The unused part of the current period is credited to your next invoice.
  • After the add-on is removed, Pro is canceled or a payment fails, access to the calendar is paused right away. Your events are kept.
  • When you add the add-on again, access comes back. If it doesn't come back by itself, click Restore access in the Your own calendar block.

6. Deleting the calendar

Your own calendar is permanently deleted with all its events (in every connected app too) when:

  • you delete its connection in Integrations → Calendars (the confirmation dialog warns you about this), or
  • you delete your whole LockMyCal account.

After deleting the connection, you can create a new, empty calendar.
