Custom Video Link

If you use a video conferencing platform that LockMyCal does not integrate with natively (e.g. Whereby, BigBlueButton, or any other self-hosted or cloud service), connect it via the universal Custom Video Link option.

1. How It Works

Unlike Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom, the app does not communicate with external APIs — it stores your configured URL template and injects it into bookings. It is compatible with any tool that generates join URLs.

URLs can be specified in two formats:

  1. Static URL — the identical permanent room for all bookings of this meeting type:
    https://meet.example.com/my-standing-room
  2. Template with Unique Room — using the token, LockMyCal generates a secure, unique hashed room URL for each booking:
    https://jitsi.yourdomain.com/

    Resolves for example to:

    https://jitsi.yourdomain.com/a1b2c3d4e5f67890

2. Configuring in LockMyCal

  1. In Integrations → Video, select Custom Video Link.
  2. In Meeting URL, enter a static URL or a template with .
  3. Save the settings — when saving and with every booking, LockMyCal verifies that it is a valid and reachable http(s) address.
  4. In Meeting Types, set the location to Video and pick Custom Video Link.

Note

The token must reside within the URL path, not behind a hash # (fragments are not transmitted to servers, which would route all meetings to the same room). Use https://example.com/, not https://example.com/#.

3. Security & Validation

  • HTTP/HTTPS only: Other URI schemes are rejected.
  • SSRF protection: In production operation, the app rejects an address that resolves to a private, loopback or link-local IP address (typically an address inside your own network) — if you really want to link to a video server in your internal network, the operator of the app must explicitly allow it (ALLOW_PRIVATE_IPS_FOR_VIDEO).
  • Maximum Length: The final resolved URL must not exceed 255 characters.
  • This tool offers no waiting room, recording or any other features beyond passing on the link — these properties depend purely on your own video solution.
