Calendar Synchronization

In this section you'll find complete guides for two-way connection of LockMyCal with your calendar services and for preventing double bookings.

Note

LockMyCal can watch availability across several different calendars at the same time (e.g. a private Google Calendar and a work Outlook or Nextcloud) and write meetings to your default calendar.

Default Calendar

On the Calendars page the default calendar is marked with a Default badge (its star is filled and inactive). Any other calendar that can take bookings can be made the default with Set as default. If a connection has several calendars, the application asks which of them is the default (the chosen one is shown on the badge; you change it with Change default calendar). Confirmed bookings are written to the default calendar, and so are your bookings on other people's pages (see below).

Your Bookings on Other People's Pages

When you book a meeting on another LockMyCal user's page while signed in, the booking form offers Save to my default calendar (name) and Remember for next time.

  • The copy moves when the meeting is rescheduled and is removed when it is cancelled (also when the host deletes the event in their own calendar).
  • It is written in the booker's language (or the one they booked in), named by the booker's Meeting Titles setting (the information the guest entered, or "meeting type with host") and names no attendees.
  • If you have no calendar that can take the copy, saving is skipped quietly. Your calendar is synced right after saving, so the copy shows on the dashboard calendar at once.
  • A visitor who is not signed in is told on the booking form, before booking, that signing in turns this on; the Sign in link brings them back to the same form and time slot.
  • The Your bookings on other pages setting on the Calendars page changes the remembered choice: Ask each time / Always / Never.
  • The host decides whether you see their email and phone (Meeting Types); the copy on the dashboard is described in Managing Bookings.

The Event in the Connected Calendar

When a booking is written to a connected calendar, LockMyCal creates an event whose:

  • Title follows the Meeting Titles setting in your profile (by the meeting information the host entered when booking, or by the meeting type), just like on the dashboard.
  • Description always contains all the details: the attendee (name, email, phone, company), the meeting type, the full message, the answers to the questions, links to the attached files (downloadable after signing in) and the video meeting link.

Events already in the calendar change only the next time they are updated.

LockMyCal also reads the reminders of events from CalDAV calendars (Radicale, Baïkal, Nextcloud…), ICS subscriptions, Outlook and Exchange; they show in the event's detail on the dashboard calendar.

Since version 1.20.0.1 the event's UID in the calendar is its own and no longer matches the booking link; meetings created earlier keep their original one. Recurring events in the calendar on your dashboard can be edited, deleted, split and moved to another calendar with CalDAV, Google and Outlook (see Overview).
